'Belfast' Star Caitriona Balfe Recounts Growing Up as a Border Child in Ireland

The 42-year-old actress, wearing a stunning Loewe dress, sat down with the host to chat about her movie, Belfast, as well as the upcoming season of Outlander.

During her interview, Caitriona dished about Belfast and recalled how crossing the border into Northern Ireland was a daily routine for her growing up.

She remembered going grocery shopping with her mom and brother in the North, and remembered even sitting on cigarettes to conceal them from customs.

“You’re constantly going back and forth,” she said of living on the border. “…It’s an every day thing in your life, a constant backdrop…the bomb scares in the North were sort of a constant in my childhood.”
