Kanye West is speaking out to explain why he bought the house across the street from his estranged wife Kim Kardashian.
The 44-year-old rapper recently dropped $4.5 million to buy the house, which has been described as a “teardown” property.

In a new interview with Hollywood Unlocked, Kanye said, “My solace comes from seeing my kids and getting a solid schedule. That’s why I even got the house. [It was] flipped into there was something wrong with me getting a house next to my kids.”
Kanye discussed how his move from Atlanta to Chicago as a child made him want to be near his kids. He said, “You see when my mom took me from Atlanta to Chicago, my dad didn’t come to the coldest and most dangerous city in the world to be next to [me]. He said, ‘I’m going to stay down in Atlanta.’”
Kanye added, “Nothing with my career, with this rap, with this media, with none of that, that’s gonna keep me from my children. And that’s what I want everybody to know. Don’t play with me, don’t play with my children. Ain’t no security gonna get in between me and my children and you ain’t gonna gaslight me.”
Kanye has seemingly insinuated that Kim is blocking access to the kids and an insider is responding to the claim.
A source told TMZ that “Kim‘s never denied him time with the North, Saint, Chicago or Psalm. We’re told she goes ‘above and beyond’ to make sure he gets as much time with them as his schedule will allow.”
The site added that “the one thing Kim has asked Kanye to do is call ahead of time when he wants to come to her house to see the children. We’re told she simply wants some structure in order to protect her right to privacy in her home.”
Kim made a big move in the divorce last month.
