Clark began his career in the WHL with the Regina Pats, before being drafted by the New York Islanders in 1974.

He enjoyed a phenomenal 14-year career in the NHL, winning four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1980-1983. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002.

“The National Hockey League mourns the passing of Clark Gillies, a tower of strength on the ice for the dynastic New York Islanders of the early 1980s and a pillar of the Long Island community ever since,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said in a statement.

We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to Clark‘s loved ones during this difficult time.

We’ve sadly lost these stars in 2022.
