Neve‘s character Sidney Prescott lives to see another day by the end of the film and she opened up to THR about why it was important to have her survive.
“I think it is important. As you said, she does represent a certain amount of strength and lack of victimhood, and that means a great deal to people,” Neve said. “I’ve had a lot of people come up to me in the past and just say that she inspired them in some way or helped them in their lives in some way, which is not what you normally expect when you’re performing in a horror film. (Laughs.) But it means a lot to people, and you’re probably not the only person who feels that way. I certainly would hate to see Sidney fall. I think it would be the wrong message… She’s been through enough! That’s for sure.”
Neve also opened up about David Arquette‘s character Dewey being killed off in the middle of the movie.
“I was devastated. I still have trouble wrapping my head around it. I still question whether it was the right choice, because from what I’m hearing, there are a lot of fans who are really upset,” she told Variety. “We were were sad about it. Courteney [Cox] had tried to tell the directors to shoot it both ways to give themselves the option because Wes would do that sometimes when there were certain characters that were so beloved.”
One of the film’s young stars revealed something surprising about the production.
