Amy Schneider Reveals Her Secret To Mastering the Buzzer on 'Jeopardy!'

Amy Schneider is opening up about her historic run on Jeopardy!

The 38-day champion on the trivia game show sat down for an interview with Good Morning America and chatted about her winning streak, and just how she mastered the buzzer, which is an essential part of the game.

The secret to Amy‘s buzzer technique is really simple – she used a ball point pen!

“I practiced at home with a ball-point pen but you don’t really know until you get there,” Amy says, however, it turns out that while she practiced on that, it didn’t end up really helping her.

She continued, “The sort-of strategy I had in mind, the way I was planning to time it, like that first game, it wasn’t quite working as well as it needed to, [and] for whatever reason, I decided to throw that out and stop thinking about it and purely try to go on instinct and feel.”

“From then on I’ve just been really good at the buzzer. I didn’t know if that would be the case and I’m pretty excited it has been.”

Amy also spoke about the upcoming Tournament of Champions, which she will be part of.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it. I’m also a little bit intimidated by it,” she says. “When I first started I wasn’t sure if I might be going up against Matt Amodio and I was really hoping I wouldn’t. And now it turns out I’m going to have to anyway.”

Amy added, “It’s going to be really challenging; a lot of strong players there, but it should be a lot of fun.”
