FX's 'Atlanta' to End With Season 4, Donald Glover Explains Decision

The popular FX series Atlanta is coming to an end following the upcoming fourth season.

The third season still hasn’t premiered, so fans still have plenty more episodes to watch, but the end is near for the beloved series. The fourth and final season has already been shot, FX chairman John Landgraf revealed on Thursday (February 17).

“After a four year absence, we’re graced with the return of Atlanta. Donald Glover and his team have shot the final two seasons of the series,” he said (via Deadline).

The show’s star and creator, Donald Glover, has opened up about the decision to end the series.

“Death is natural,” he said (via Variety). “I feel like when the conditions are right for something, they happen, and when the conditions aren’t right, they don’t happen. I don’t feel any longevity. Because then things start to get weird. The story was always supposed to be what it was. And the story, it really was us. Everybody in that writers’ room, everybody on set. It really was what we were going through and what we talked about. … I think it ends perfectly.”

Season three premieres on FX on March 24.
