The two executive producers shared that they’d love to do many more seasons of the show, naming Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Hillary Clinton, and Melania Trump as the ones they’d be thinking of next.
Dolly Madison, Edith Wilson, Martha Washington, and Rosalyn Carter were also mentioned for future installments.
“I would be very intrigued to depict Hillary Clinton because I think that her position was so complicated… I think that would be incredibly interesting,” Susanne shared, via Deadline.
Cathy added, “If we could figure out a way to do Jackie Kennedy that didn’t tell the same old story again—particularly the latter part of her life— I’m fascinated by that.”
When asked whether or not they’d consider Mrs. Trump, they debated about it.
“I think the series could do with a fun season, so let’s talk about that,” Susanne said.
The premiere season will focus on Michelle Obama, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Betty Ford, played by Viola Davis, Gillian Anderson and Michelle Pfeiffer, respectively.
“I think the hope is that there’s going to be future seasons so they’ll have the opportunity to have more First Ladies represented. So maybe not just four but maybe 104,” Gillian said.
The First Lady will premiere on April 17 on Showtime. See the trailer here!
