Karen Pittman Reveals the Scrapped 'And Just Like That' Storyline Between Her & Cynthia Nixon's Characters

Karen Pittman is sharing some new details about a scrapped storyline for And Just Like That!

In the HBO Max documentary special that accompanied the release of the show, it was revealed that the writers originally planned for there to be a romantic storyline Cynthia Nixon‘s character Miranda and her professor Dr. Nya Wallace, played by Karen.

However, Cynthia felt that it would be better to introduce another character for Miranda to pursue, which ultimately led them to create Sara Ramirez‘s character Che Diaz.

During an interview on the 2022 SAG Awards on Sunday (February 27), ET‘s Nischelle Turner asked the 45-year-old actress about the almost-romance between her character and Miranda.

“Listen, Nischelle, I did not know that. Nobody told me that,” she said of the original storyline. “Nobody told me that. I said, ‘Hold up, that could have been sexy, y’all. That could have been super sexy.’ Me and Cynthia Nixon? Maybe. She could get it.”

When asked whether things would have become as heated between the pair as things got between Che and Miranda, Karen replied: “Sara Ramirez, they could definitely get it. They’re hot.”

As for whether anything could happen between Nya and Miranda in the second season, the actress said fans shouldn’t get their hopes up.

“Listen, I think that Dr. Wallace is very much in love with Andre Rashad and they’re married,” she said of her character’s husband, played by Leroy McClain. “Andre is a good man.”

When asked about the possibility of a second season, Karen replied: “I think that they still want to do it. I think they’re trying to figure out a way to do it. I’m not actually the person to give you the good answer. That’s Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King. But listen, if they’re doing it, I am right there, anything they want me to do. It’s such a great time, a great show.”

Earlier this month, Sex & the City author Candace Bushnell revealed how she felt about the reboot.
