Morena Baccarin Recalls Her Failed 'Avengers' Audition: 'I Didn't Get It At All'

Morena Baccarin is looking back at her audition for Avengers, and admitted that she completely bombed it.

The 42-year-old star of NBC’s new show, The Endgame, chatted on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and explained why her audition didn’t go as planned.

Morena shared that the role she was auditioning for was for SHEILD Agent Maria Hill, aka Nick Fury’s right-wing woman, but she just didn’t understand the role.

“I didn’t get it at all,” she shared. “I loved that [Joss Whedon] brought me in for it. He kept telling me she was like Sigourney Weaver in Alien, that she had this kind of hard edge to her. I was like, ‘I don’t understand’.”

Morena went on, saying that she “couldn’t see it on the page, I couldn’t do it… I tested, I was there with Cobie [Smulders, who got the role]. We tested against each other, and I was like, ‘She’s gonna get this part. I can see it.’”

“He wanted me to be emotional, but hold it all in and be hard, and I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re asking me to do. I can’t do this.’”
