Mayim Bialik Responds To Backlash Over Using 'Single Jeopardy' While Hosting 'Jeopardy!'

Last month, Jeopardy! viewers were getting frustrated with co-host Mayim Bialik.
The 46-year-old actress and neurobiologist has been sharing hosting duties with Ken Jennings and during a single episode was overheard saying “Single Jeopardy” to describe the first round of game play.
After hearing about fans criticizing the description, Mayim has responded to them.

While speaking to Yahoo!, Mayim addressed the issue, saying that she didn’t say anything that wasn’t in the official Jeopardy! script, and technically, “Single Jeopardy” is not wrong.
“I know it may not be the norm, but when I saw that Alex [Trebek, late host] had referred to it, it was not out of the norm. It was definitely not normative. I will never do it again!” she said. “Even if it’s in this script, I will not say it. People cared a lot. I get it, and I’m sorry, and I’m doing my best.”
While the phrase is a rarity on the program, Alex had been using it throughout his 35 years hosting.
“If it wasn’t right, they would’ve had me redo it,” Mayim added. “I barely act alone. I promise. There’s so many things that we re-tape. We go back, I flub things. You’re seeing an edited version.”
“When I saw that [the reaction], I was like, if it was literally not kosher, there’s a million producers and writers and researchers. They’re all listening to me.”
Jeopardy! is currently planning a “second chance” tournament.
