Sutton Foster Reveals the Pre-Show Ritual She Has with Her 'Music Man' Co-Star Hugh Jackman

Sutton Foster is opening up about working with Hugh Jackman on The Music Man!

The two-time Tony-winning actress made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday (March 7), where she discussed her return to Broadway and revealed the ritual she and her co-star have before each show.

Sutton told Stephen that the musical was one of the “most joyful, most loving” things she’s been a part of. “The last year and a half, two years, has been devastating to our industry,” she added. “And for theater to be back… There’s nothing like performing live.”

Stephen then asked if she had any pre-show rituals and the actress replied, “Actually yeah, Hugh and I do!”

“He comes to visit my dressing room and we have a carpet chat. I have things to sit on but for some reason we both end up on the floor,” she said. “This is before the show, before the wardrobe.”

“We have like coffees and smoothies and stuff. We thought maybe we should start a podcast called ‘Carpet Chat’ with Hugh and Sutton,” Sutton continued. “That’s not very exciting, but tune in and you might learn something!”
