Melissa Joan Hart Reveals That a 'Clarissa Explains It All' Reboot Was 'Squashed' at Nickelodeon

Looks like there won’t be a reboot of Clarissa Explains It All anytime soon.

People writes that during an appearance at 90s Con on Saturday (March 12), Melissa Joan Hart revealed that a revival of the 1990s show had been scrapped by Nickelodeon.

“We tried that, actually,” Melissa said when asked about bringing the show back.

“Nickelodeon got a new president, and they kind of squashed the whole thing,” she continued. “So it was actually in the works and yeah, it just sort of disappeared. It took like a year to do the contracts, which was the hardest part, and then it just kind of fizzled out. So I don’t think [it will happen].”

News of a reboot was first reported in 2018, with Melissa set to reprise her role as Clarissa Darling. The original series ran on the network from 1991 to 1994 for five seasons, and was Nickelodeon’s first series with a female lead.
