Jesse Spencer Could Return For 'Chicago Fire' Season Finale, Showrunner Says

Jesse Spencer said goodbye to Chicago Fire at the start of season 10, but it looks like he could be back for the upcoming season finale.

In a new interview, showrunner Derek Haas revealed his hopes for Jesse‘s character, Casey, will be back at the season end.

Jesse departed the show in October, as his character decided to move to Oregon to take care of his late best friend Andy Darden’s sons. However, he is still in a long distance relationship with Sylvie Brett.

As far as Jesse‘s return, Derek shared with TV Line that it would “be amazing. That would be a coup for our show if we could talk Jesse into coming back.”

He continued, “So status on that is all systems looking good. And yes, I talked to him last week so I’m very hopeful that that’s going happen.”

However, Derek isn’t going to say for sure that Jesse will return, but “it is our great expectation that we will see both Casey and [his girlfriend] Brett in the [season] finale, because giant, big exciting things are going to be happening. This will be the best finale ever, I’ll go ahead and say it.”

Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
