Ellen Pompeo Calls Katherine Heigl 'Ballsy' & Wasn't Lying About 'Grey's Anatomy'

Ellen Pompeo is praising Katherine Heigl former comments about the long working hours on Grey’s Anatomy.

During the latest episode of her podcast, the 52-year-old actress and producer opened up about the comments Katherine had made during a 2009 episode of The Late Show With David Letterman, as the series was in its sixth season.

“I’m gonna keep saying this ’cause I hope it embarrasses them,” Katherine shared at the time, adding that her typical work day was 17 hours and that it was “cruel and mean.”

Now, Ellen is opening up about her statements.

“I remember Heigl said something on a talk show about the insane hours we were working and she was 100% right,” Ellen shared, while speaking to friend and co-star, Kate Walsh.

She added, “Had she said that today, she’d be a complete hero. But she’s ahead of her time, made a statement about our crazy hours and of course, let’s slam a woman and call her ungrateful.”

She went on, saying that Katherine opening up about the work hours was “100% honest” and was “absolutely correct” about it all.

“And she was f***ing ballsy for saying it,” Ellen said. “And she was telling the truth. She wasn’t lying.”
