Tom Ford Seems to Shade Met Gala, Uses Katy Perry's Looks as Examples

Fashion designer Tom Ford seems to be voicing his displeasure at the state of the Met Gala today, versus how it used to be.

“It’s turned into a costume party,” he told author Amy Odell in an excerpt from her book, “Anna: The Biography.”

“That used to just be very chic people wearing very beautiful clothes going to an exhibition about the 18th century,” he said in the excerpt, published by Time.

“You didn’t have to look like the 18th century, you didn’t have to dress like a hamburger, you didn’t have to arrive in a van where you were standing up because you couldn’t sit down because you wore a chandelier,” Tom said. Katy Perry dressed in a hamburger costume for the 2019 Met Gala after party, and had a chandelier inspired look as her red carpet outfit that same year.
