Dave Chappelle Attacked on Stage During Stand Up Comedy Show, Video Shows the Moment It Happened

Dave Chappelle was tackled on stage while performing at the Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival comedy festival on Tuesday night (May 3).

The 48-year-old comedian was performing when a man, who had a “replica gun,” rushed on stage and attacked him.

The news first came to light as videos circulated social media showing the moment. You can see one such video on Twitter.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the attack to NBC news and added that the weapon the man was “carrying can eject a knife blade ‘when you discharge it correctly.” It’s unclear if he tried to use the blade.

The police added that Dave was not injured. The attacker was hauled away quickly by security.

The attacker was an audience member at the show and was taken to the hospital with “superficial injuries.”
