Eminem, Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Carly Simon have all be included on the ballot for the first time, with this being the first year Eminem has been eligible. To be considered, artists must have dropped their first record 25 years before induction.

The 2022 class also has the distinction of being the first time that six female acts will be inducted in one class.
