Queen Elizabeth to Miss State Opening of Parliament, Reason Why Revealed

Queen Elizabeth will unfortunately not be in attendance at the State Opening of Parliament on Tuesday (May 10) and it will mark only her third time missing the event in her 70 years as the Queen.

Buckingham Palace released a statement explaining her absence, and revealed who will be going in her place.

The statement revealed she’s continuing to experience mobility problems and will not be able to attend.

“The Queen continues to experience episodic mobility problems, and in consultation with her doctors has reluctantly decided that she will not attend the State Opening of Parliament tomorrow,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement. “At Her Majesty’s request, and with the agreement of the relevant authorities, The Prince of Wales [Prince Charles] will read The Queen’s speech on Her Majesty’s behalf, with The Duke of Cambridge [Prince William] also in attendance.”

If you didn’t see the news, the Queen actually made history today.
