Kelly Clarkson Missing From 'The Voice' Coaches Announcement & Recent Interview Teases Her Departure

The Voice is returning for season 22 in the fall and only three coaches are confirmed as of this time.

In a new video, returning coaches Blake Shelton and John Legend announced the former coach who is coming back after taking several seasons off. Missing from that video was Kelly Clarkson, who has been on the show for eight seasons in a row.

So, is Kelly coming back for another season of The Voice?

A new interview that Kelly gave this week signals the possibility that she may be taking the year off from the show.

Kelly told radio host Elvis Duran about her plans to take time off this summer. She said, “I turned 40 and you know what I’m giving myself for 40? I literally said ‘no’ to everything this summer. I will not do anything this summer. Since I was 16 years old, I haven’t had a summer off. This is my first summer off. I am taking time.”

The Voice usually begins shooting the blind auditions in June and promos for the season begin in August, so if Kelly is taking time off this summer, she likely won’t be doing the show.
