Meghan Markle Visits Texas to Pay Respects at Memorial for School Shooting Victims

Meghan Markle took a trip to Texas to pay her respects to the victims of the school shooting.
The 40-year-old Duchess of Sussex was photographed laying a bouquet of flowers at the memorial outside Uvalde County Courthouse on Thursday (May 26) in Uvalde, Texas.
Meghan laid the flowers at the cross for 10-year-old victim Uziyah Garcia. A spokesperson told People that she “took the trip in a personal capacity as a mother, to offer her condolences and support in person to a community experiencing unimaginable grief.”

BuzzFeed reports that Meghan visited a community center to donate food at a blood drive. She dropped off ‘two “large’ crates filled with sandwiches, beverages, and desserts for blood donors.”
“I had no idea who she was. She just was carrying on a conversation like her and I knew each other for years,” volunteer Gloria Contreras, 40, told BuzzFeed News. “We were just talking about, you know, the situation and what happened what we were doing here. I told her about us giving out water to the people and feeding them.”
21 people, including 19 children, were killed by an 18-year-old gunman who locked himself inside an elementary school.
Meghan was dressed in a t-shirt, jeans, baseball cap, and sneakers during her visit.
