Chris Evans Blasts Homophobes Who Criticized 'Lightyear' Gay Kiss Scene

Chris Evans is speaking out to slam the homophobic critics of his new movie Lightyear.

For those who don’t know already, there is a same-sex kiss in the movie. While the kiss was originally cut from the movie, Disney restored it in the wake of the backlash for how the company responded to Florida’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Chris has already reflected on the decision to restore the moment and now he’s slamming anyone who is criticizing it.

“The real truth is those people are idiots,” Chris told Reuters. “Every time there’s been social advancement as we wake up, the American story, the human story is one of constant social awakening and growth and that’s what makes us good.”

He continued, “There’s always going to be people who are afraid and unaware and trying to hold on to what was before. But those people die off like dinosaurs. I think the goal is to pay them no mind, march forward and embrace the growth that makes us human.”

Lightyear hits theaters this Friday!
