According to USA Today, Jerry‘s sentencing comes five months after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old in a bathroom during a cheer competition and paying a 17-year-old to send him sexually explicit videos and photos.

Jerry also admitted to similar misconduct with other minors, but those charges were dropped in a plea agreement.

Jerry has remained behind bars since he was first arrested for charges for child pornography in September 2020, several months after Cheer debuted on Netflix earlier that year.

At the time, Jerry‘s lawyers argued for a six-year sentence, saying that he had a “warped” view of relationships due to the “extreme poverty, sexual abuse, and neglect of his childhood.”

Shortly after Jerry‘s arrest, his former coach Monica Aldama released a statement on the situation.
