Chris Hemsworth Reveals One of His Brothers Almost Played Thor Instead of Him

While speaking with MensXP, Chris revealed that he suggested Liam, 32, to casting directors after he thought that he tanked his audition.

“My little brother almost got cast as Thor,” Chris revealed.

While many of the Marvel movies explore the Multiverse, Chris said fans shouldn’t expect to see that in the new Thor movie.

“In this film, it’s not something we explore,” Chris said. “But who knows if there is more in the future, as you say it has opened up multitudes of options we can head in or be taken in.”

However, if they decide explore the Multiverse in a future movie, Chris thinks Liam would be great to play an alternate version of Thor.

“He was one of the first people who got right down to the wire on getting the part so, I don’t know, I could cross paths with him. That will be fun,” Chris said.

During an episode of Wired‘s “Autocomplete Interview” last month, Chris recalled not getting a callback for his initial Thor audition, and admitted that he was convinced that Liam would get the role instead.

“I think my audition sucked. I think that was the response I got,” Chris recalled.

He went on to say that Liam then went in and had a great interview, and got “very close” to landing the role. In fact, Liam was one of the “last five people” being considered to play Thor.

“They were like, ‘Look, he’s great, but he’s a bit young.’ My manager then said, ‘Well, he does have an older brother,’ which was me,” Chris explained. “I came back in, re-auditioned a few times and just had a different attitude. Maybe I had a little more sort of motivation that my little brother got a look in and I hadn’t.”

Chris added, “I also had done a couple of films in between those two auditions, so I had a bit more experience and confidence in what I was going to do.”
