Leonardo DiCaprio Offered Pete Buttigieg Speaking Tips During His Presidential Campaign

Pete Buttigieg almost got a private coaching session with Leonardo DiCaprio!

Lis Smith, a political strategist who worked as a former senior communications director for the politician’s presidential campaign, told TMZ that the 47-year-old actor offered to give Pete speaking tips ahead of his nationally televised event.

Leo reportedly offered his services at a private fundraiser in October 2019, which also included appearances from other stars like Ashton Kutcher, Paris Hilton, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.

Lis told the outlet that while Pete was grateful for the support, he hadn’t brushed up on pop culture and wasn’t familiar with many of the celebs. So when Leo said he would help with Pete‘s speaking style and coach him on the best way to deliver his talking points, he didn’t take him up it.

Lis added that she was thrilled when Pete told her about Leo‘s offer, but when she asked if he’d gotten Leo‘s number, he said that he hadn’t.

“Lis says she was beside herself, but chalked it up to Pete not fully grasping the significance of Leo‘s offer… because he’s not a big pop culture guy,” TMZ writes. She added that the debate ended up being a turning point in Pete‘s campaign even without Leo‘s help.
