Lupita Nyong’o Awards 40 Students With 10K Scholarships at NAACP Convention
Lupita Nyong’o is giving back in a big way!
The 39-year-old Black Panther actress stepped out for NAACP’s ACT-SO Awards on Sunday night (July 17) in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she surprised 40 students with $10,000 scholarships!
The scholarships were given to students that were part of the ACT-SO program, which is a year-long program for high school students across the country that promotes their growth in subjects such as visual arts, business, performing arts, and culinary arts.
“Since I was a child, I have always had big dreams, and my education has played a huge part in helping me realize them,” Lupita said on stage, according to ABC. “I’ve always loved learning and I believe that learners change the world.”
The scholarships were funded through a partnership with cosmetic brand Lancôme, which Lupita is a brand ambassador of.
“I am so thrilled to join Lancome, on behalf of their Write Her Future Scholarship Fund, to award this incredible group of women with these game-changing scholarships,” she added said.
