Demi Moore Reveals Why She Wouldn't Shave Or Chop Her Hair For A Role Today

Demi Moore is opening up about her decision to shave off all her hair in 1997 for Ridley Scott‘s G.I. Jane, and why she wouldn’t do it today.

The 59-year-old actress spoke to People and admitted it would take a very special role for her to even consider shaving or even chopping off her signature locks now.

“I think now that I’m older…I don’t have anything to prove,” Demi told the outlet. “So if they really need my hair different, they can give me a wig.”

She also added that if she did shave it again, it wouldn’t be “clear how it would grow back!”

“I’ve done everything to my hair. I’ve shaved it. I’ve dyed it. I’ve had a bob. When I’m not working, I try to do as little to it as possible. It’s stressful even having someone touch it,” Demi explained.

She also revealed why she likes to keep it so long: “I remember hearing someone say that when women get older, they shouldn’t have long hair. And something about that stuck with me.”

“Like who says? It made me feel like, well, if it can grow and it’s not unhealthy, then why shouldn’t we? I’m not comfortable with rules that don’t seem to have any real meaning or justification.”
