Lea Michele Confirms 'My Man' Will Not Be Added to 'Funny Girl' When She Plays Fanny Brice

One of Lea Michele‘s most memorable moments on Glee was when she sang “My Man” from the movie Funny Girl, but sadly, fans won’t get to hear her perform the song when she’s starring in Funny Girl on Broadway.

The 35-year-old actress is currently traveling the country on her Life in Music tour and she confirmed during the first show that she will not be performing the song on Broadway.

Lea is performing the song on tour right now to give fans a taste of her Fanny Brice.

“Because I won’t get to do it every night on Broadway, I want to sing it for you all tonight… Here’s a little bit of Fanny Brice and I will see you on September 6,” she told the crowd at her show.

For those who don’t know, “My Man” was not included in the original Broadway production of Funny Girl. It was added to the movie as it was a song that Fanny Brice herself used to sing in her Ziegfeld Follies days.

When the Broadway revival of Funny Girl opened earlier this year with Beanie Feldstein, fans wondered if the song might be added, but it wasn’t. After it was announced that Lea would take over the role of Fanny Brice, fans speculated that the producers might add the song since she does such an incredible rendition. Unfortunately, fans will have to just rewatch Glee to hear her perform the song again, but we’ll finally get to hear her sing “The Music That Makes Me Dance.”

Lea begins her Funny Girl run on September 6. Get your tickets now at SeatGeek.com.
