Alex Jones Now Ordered To Pay Nearly $50 Million To Sandy Hook Parents in Defamation Trial

The amount that Alex Jones has to pay has increased significantly.

If you’re not aware, Alex was being sued for defamation by the parents of one of the children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, as he called the entire thing a hoax for years.

At first, the InfoWars host was ordered to pay just $4.1 million. However, that amount has increased to $49.3 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a Texas jury on re-assessed the final total that Alex would be paying out to the parents of a first-grader who was killed in the tragedy.

Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, whose 6-year-old son Jesse Lewis was among 19 children and six educators killed in the deadliest classroom shooting in U.S. history, were seeking $150 million.

This marks the first time that Alex will be financially liable for peddling lies about the 2012 attack in Newtown, Connecticut.

The new amount comes after the same Austin jury came back and tacked on an additional $45.2 million in punitive damages, which are meant to punish defendants for particularly egregious conduct, beyond monetary compensation awarded to the individuals they hurt.

Earlier this week, there was a major blunder that Alex‘s lawyers made in the trial. See what happened here…
