Taron Egerton Wants to Return to the Stage After Brief Run in 'Cock,' Talks Dream Role

Taron Egerton‘s West End stage debut this year ended very abruptly when he decided to leave the show after just weeks into the run.

The 32-year-old actor is now opening up about his future in the theater and the dream role he’d love to play.

During an interview with Variety, Taron declined to discuss the details behind his exit from the play Cock, in which he starred opposite Bridgerton‘s Jonathan Bailey.

“I think it’s really important that I get back on the horse again sooner rather than later,” Taron said.

Taron says his dream role is the title character in Stephen Sondheim‘s classic musical Sweeney Todd.

“At the moment I’m too young and not gruff enough, but I probably could do it at 40,” he said. “No one’s going to buy me as Sweeney just yet. I need to have accrued enough years to be that jaded and embittered.”
