Broadway's 'Into the Woods' Announces Exciting New Cast Starting September 6!

The Broadway revival of Into the Woods will have a new cast starting September 6 and there are some exciting names on the list, including a real-life married couple!

Sara Bareilles led the cast of the revival when the show began performances earlier this summer following a successful two-week run at New York City Center. She will be leaving the show on September 4 alongside some other original cast members.

Into the Woods first premiered on Broadway in 1987, winning three Tony Awards including Best Score and Best Book for Stephen Sondheim. It has since been produced throughout the world and was adapted into a major motion picture in 2014. This production marks its first time on Broadway in 20 years.

Real-life married couple Stephanie J. Block and Sebastian Arcelus are joining the cast on September 6 as the Baker’s Wife and the Baker. They are replacing original cast members Sara Bareilles and Brian d’Arcy James.

Original cast member Patina Miller will begin sharing the role of the Witch with Montego Glover starting on September 6. Montego will perform all Tuesday through Thursday performances while Patina will perform all Friday through Sunday performances.

Krysta Rodriguez will be taking over the role of Cinderella on September 6 from original cast member Phillipa Soo.

Gavin Creel and Andy Karl – The Wolf / Cinderella’s Prince

Original cast member Gavin Creel will continue in the dual roles of The Wolf and Cinderella’s Prince, though Andy Karl will fill in from September 6 through September 15 while Gavin fulfills a prior commitment.

Joshua Henry – Rapunzel’s Prince

Joshua Henry will continue in the role of Rapunzel’s Prince, though he will not perform Saturday September 23 through Sunday, September 25; and Tuesday, October 11 through Sunday October 16.

Little Red Riding Hood will be played by Julia Lester through September 4, and Katy Geraghty from September 6 through October 16.

Jack’s Mother will be played by Aymee Garcia through September 25, and Ann Harada from September 27 through October 16.

The Steward will be played by David Turner through September 4 and Jim Stanek from September 6 through October 16.

Original cast members Ta’Nika Gibson as Lucinda, Annie Golden as Cinderella’s Mother/Grandmother/Giant’s Wife, Albert Guerzon as Cinderella’s Father, Brooke Ishibashi as Florinda, Kennedy Kanagawa as Milky White, David Patrick Kelly as the Narrator/Mysterious Man, Nancy Opel as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Cole Thompson as Jack, and Alysia Velez as Rapunzel will continue with the production, with Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Diane Phelan, and Lucia Spina as understudies.
