While not technically a reboot, the series would be a continuation of the original show, which aired from 1997 to 2002.

The outlet reports that the revival would follow a young Black woman who joins the law film from the original series straight out of law school. The young woman is believed to be the daughter of Ally McBeal’s D.A. roommate Renée Raddick, who was played by Lisa Nicole Carson on the mothership series.

Deadline also reports that the series creator, David E. Kelley, has given his blessing on the revival, but will not be involved with it.

However, Calista has been approached to reprise her role, and to executive produce the follow up but, “a decision on her potential involvement likely won’t be made until a script has been written.”

Another Ally McBeal reboot was planned last year.
