Tom competed at the inaugural REORG Open in the UK. In the finals match in the gi division, he submitted his opponent with a ankle lock.

REORG is a charity organization and states the problem it is trying to address: “The challenges of frontline duty can leave military personnel and first responders facing severe mental and physical difficulties. Problems often get worse once they leave the service and no longer have the camaraderie and support of colleagues.” The solution is: “Joining a jiu-jitsu club can make a massive difference in so many different ways. It gives a healthy outlet for your energy and gets you training with a group of people like-minded who are focused on the same goal. This small step can be a life saver.”

Tom starred in the mixed martial arts film Warrior in 2011. He is often seen going to the gym for mixed martial arts workouts.
