'Big Brother' Airs Contestant Kyle Capener's Comments About Race After Fan Complaints

Big Brother contestant Kyle Capener has been making headlines recently after fans voiced their issues with his comments on race throughout the latest season of the show.
This past weekend, the hashtag #StopProtectingKyle shot to No. 1 in the United States on Twitter’s Trending Topics, as fans of the show lashed out at CBS for “protecting” Kyle with editing of his problematic comments in the house, as well as conversations about race.
At one point during the season, Kyle commented on the “diverse background” of other housemates and speculated that they are working together similarly to the Cookout, a former all-Black alliance from Big Brother 23. He also suggested an alliance between the remaining white contestants on the show.
During the episode that aired on Wednesday (August 31), Kyle‘s comments were finally addressed on the air when fellow contestants Michael Bruner and Brittany Hoopes told other houseguests about the comments.

Michael and Brittany brought up the comments to Taylor Hale and Monte Taylor, who are their fellow alliance members in The Leftovers. They then told HOH Matt Turner and Kyle‘s girlfriend in the house, Alyssa Snider.
Michael told Alyssa, “I understand that it’s a game and he’s presenting it as a strategy, like, within the game context, but for me, this goes beyond the game and, like, I’m not comfortable being a part of it.”
After Kyle and Alyssa talked about what was being alleged, he denied making race an issue.
“A race thing is what they’re pitching that I was saying?” Kyle asked. “Alyssa, this is bigger than game. This will ruin my life if this is what they’re pitching… At what point have I ever made this a race thing? You understand, this is life-changing.”
The episode ended with Kyle in the diary room, in tears. He told the camera that “even the hint of race being a factor is the most concerning thing for me.”
Kyle made headlines for another reason this season as well.
