Here’s what Lea Michele had to say about the casting drama…

Lea thinks that it’s unfortunate that people have been pitting women against each other.

“I saw the show. I wrote [Beanie] and told her what an incredible job I thought that she did,” Lea said. “I think that everybody just thinks everything is so drama-filled. I also think that people really love the excitement of pitting women against each other, which I think is really sad and unfortunate.”

She added, “I was so grateful to get to see the show. I thought she was hilarious and beautiful and so wonderful. This is not an easy role, and she took it on with such bravery. And I wrote her and told her that.”

Lea added that Julie Benko, who is playing Fanny Brice right now and will be her alternate throughout her run, is “extraordinary.”

“We’ll be sharing this role once I start. She’ll be doing the Thursday performances. And so this is a team effort here, and I want everybody to support that,” Lea said.

In another interview this week, Lea responded to past allegations about her behavior at work.
