Zac Efron Speaks Candidly About Struggling with Agoraphobia

Zac Efron is opening up about a private struggle.

In a new interview, the 34-year-old High School Musical actor revealed that he struggles with agoraphobia, which is anxiety disorder that involves the fear of going into crowded spaces or sometimes leaving your home.

“I just don’t go out,” Zac shared in his cover interview with Men’s Health. “People in large groups, it triggers my agoraphobia.”

While Zac didn’t further elaborate on his fears, other stars have spoke out about their battle with agoraphobia.

In an interview from earlier this year, Kim Basinger spoke about her struggles with agoraphobia, saying that for a period of time she “wouldn’t leave the house.”

“I had to relearn to drive, and for many years I would not go through the tunnels at Malibu,” Kim explained. “Everything used to make me nervous, like the glass [sliding] to open the door, or, ‘Where do I step to open the door?’ Everything became a big job to figure out how to do it.”

Also in his interview with Men’s Health, Zac addressed those viral rumors that he got a “new face.”
