KTLA Fires Anchor Mark Mester After He Called Out the Network On-Air to Defend Former Colleague

Mark was Lynette‘s longtime co-anchor and decided to go off-script to talk about her exit.

“What the viewers experienced was rude, it was cruel, it was inappropriate, and we are so sorry,” he said. “I also want to say sorry to Lynette Romero because, Lynette, I love you so much. You really are my best friend. You did not deserve what happened to you on Wednesday.”

“It was a mistake, and we hope you can find it in your heart to forgive us,” he added.

Mark was suspended from his job after the on-air moment and KTLA later fired him.

Station general manager Janene Drafs confirmed that Mark was fired during a newsroom meeting, according to THR.

Another newscaster was fired this week, but for a very different reason.
