Kelsea Ballerini Says The Choice To End Her Marriage to Morgan Evans Was 'Rough'

Kelsea Ballerini is sharing a little more with fans about her decision to end her marriage to Morgan Evans.

While promoting her new album, Subject to Change, the 29-year-old singer spoke to CBS Mornings about her relationship’s end, and shared that it wasn’t a sudden decision either.

“I think when there’s a big life decision like that, it’s not a sudden one,” Kelsea shared. “There’s a lot that happens before that becomes public. So, I’m on my, like, active healing journey. A big part of that is showing up for this album and showing up for myself like I never have.”

She added that there have been challenges she’s facing now.

“I’m a peacemaker. We’ve talked about this before. I’m a people pleaser. So, to do something that kind of goes against those two things is really difficult,” she admitted. “And I’m really proud of myself.”

Kelsea did add that the decision of divorce was difficult and rough, but needed to happen.

“It’s not chaotic. It’s not, like, volatile, it just didn’t work,” she says. “And that sometimes is like a difficult narrative to get your head around when you’re like, ‘Oh, my gosh. This is a good person. And I’m a good person. And this is just no longer good anymore.’”

Kelsea shared the news of her divorce last month with fans, and changed some of the lyrics to her songs to reflect it.
