Here's How Shantel VanSanten's Nina Was Written Out Of 'FBI' (SPOILERS!)
The latest FBI episode aired on Sunday due to the upcoming elections, which will be aired on Tuesday, FBI‘s regular premiere day.
In the newest episode, fans learned that Nina paid a visit to the doctor and her partner, Special Agent Stuart Scola (John Boyd), hears about it from teammate Omar Adom “OA” Zidan (Zeeko Zaki).
Later on in the episode, it’s revealed that Nina is pregnant and that Scola is the father. Nina isn’t sure what she wants to do, but does know that leaving the team right now is the best for her.
Nina will be working out of the white-collar division.
Once alone, Nina tells Scola she needs some time, but before leaving, she kisses him in an emotional goodbye.
Speaking with TV Insider, showrunner Rick Eid insists that Nina will be back in some way.
“We didn’t want to kill Nina off. She’s been an incredible addition to the show, and intertwining her story with Scola’s allows us to keep her character alive,” he shared. “It also gives Scola’s character another dimension; he’s now facing fatherhood on top of being an FBI Agent.”
Rick added that although “Nina is leaving the team, she’s still an FBI agent, and her relationship with Scola will continue in some capacity. We’ll see her again soon.”
