Kathy Griffin Returns To Twitter Under Her Deceased Mother's Account Despite Suspension

Earlier tonight, Kathy Griffin was permanently banned from Twitter after she changed her display name to that of the new owner, Elon Musk.

After she changed it, the platform moved to suspend the account under the new rules of impersonating other people.

“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” Elon had announced in a series of tweets about the rule.

However, Kathy has found a way around it – by using her mom’s account.

Kathy‘s mother, Maggie, passed away in 2019, however, she has always held on to it instead of closing it.

In the first tweet in over three years on the account, Kathy used it to start the hashtag #FreeKathy.

In a follow-up tweet, Kathy also replied to Elon and his rule about the parody tag.

She then replied, “I’m back from the grave to say… #FreeKathy #TipIt.”

Kathy has also clarified in several twitter replies that her mom “would not mind” that her account was reactivated for this purpose.
