Sean Penn Gives Away His Oscar to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Sean Penn gifted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy one of his Oscar awards and asked the leader to hold onto it until his country defeats Russia.
The 62-year-old actor and director’s most recent visit to Ukraine this week was his third since the start of its war with Russia.

“It’s just a symbolic silly thing, but if I know this is here with you then I’ll feel better and stronger for the fights,” Sean said. “When you win, bring it back to Malibu.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Sean with the Order of Merit honour for strengthening relations, backing Ukraine’s territorial integrity and helping to popularize the country, the president’s office said.
“Sean brought his Oscar statuette as a symbol of faith in the victory of our country. It will be in Ukraine until the end of the war,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
