Jimmy Kimmel Says Upcoming Oscars Will Most Likely Address The Will Smith & Chris Rock Oscar Slap

Jimmy Kimmel will be stepping back into his Oscar hosting shoes with the 2023 ceremony.

The 55-year-old late night talk show host and comedian has hosted the ceremony before, and opened up about how the show will most likely address the slap that occurred between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the 2022 show.

Speaking with Extra, Jimmy said that “it’s got to come up in some way.”

“You know, I don’t want to really make light of it necessarily, because it wasn’t [light] to comedians,” he added. “You know, comedians are mad about it… It’s like, it’s one of those things that for a group of people that find everything funny, it’s, like, not funny, you know?”

Jimmy then recalled that there have been other instances of addressing past show moments: “When they read the wrong winner one year when I hosted the Oscars, we had to make mention of that the next year.”
