'Grey's Anatomy' Creator Shonda Rhimes Addresses Ellen Pompeo's Upcoming Exit from the Show

Shonda Rhimes is speaking out to address the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy exit of the show’s longtime star Ellen Pompeo.

It was revealed last week that Ellen‘s final episode as a series regular will air on February 23, which is when the show returns for the winter episodes.

Ellen took to her Instagram account on Thursday (November 17) to talk about her exit from the show and then Shonda did the same a little while later.

“What a wild ride these past 19 seasons have been. None of it could have been possible without the incomparable @ellenpompeo, the one and only Meredith Grey. This isn’t a goodbye, it’s a see ya later! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Ellen, Meredith and Grey Sloan Memorial,” Shonda wrote.

Ellen commented on the post and said, “Thank you Queen!! 😘❤️.”
