The Two Turkeys Joe Biden Pardoned Ahead of Thanksgiving 2022 Nearly Ran Away!
Joe Biden speaks directly to one of the turkeys he pardoned for 2022 Thanksgiving at a formal event outside the South Lawn of the White House on Monday (November 21) in Washington, DC.
The 46th President of the United States was joined by a huge crowd for the event, as he pardoned Chocolate, and Chip, for the holiday festivities.
Ahead of Joe arriving through, both Chocolate and Chip were seen taking off on the lawn and running away! Thankfully, their handlers got them back and the ceremony went on.
Chocolate, and Chip, were raised at Circle S. Ranch, outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, and will reside on the campus of North Carolina State University following today’s ceremony.
Some of the other names of Presidential turkeys include Peanut Butter and Jelly, Stars and Stripes, Corn and Cob, and Marshmallow and Yam.
The first Thanksgiving turkey on record to receive a reprieve was in 1963 when President John F. Kennedy received a 40-pound turkey with a sign around its neck that read, “GOOD EATING, MR. PRESIDENT!”
However, the official pardoning of the turkey came in 1987 with Ronald Reagan.
