The 63-year-old singer listed the 30-year-old Only Murders in the Building actress as the ideal candidate for the role during a recent interview. She explained why and drew some parallels between their lives, too.

Marie explained to E! News that Selena shares some similar life experiences.

If you weren’t aware, both stars got their start at a young age. Before Selena found breakout success on the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, she had a role on Barney. Marie worked in the industry alongside her brother Donny Osmond in the late ’70s.

“I think Selena Gomez would be amazing, only because she has been through a lot of the things that I’ve been through,” she told the outlet.

“I think it’s nice to have a child’s perspective as being an entertainer, because it’s very different,” she explained.
