Mindy Kaling Says Most of the Characters on 'The Office' Would Be Cancelled By Now

Mindy Kaling wears two outfits throughout the day as she visits Good Morning America on Thursday (December 1) in New York City.

The 43-year-old actress and writer was asked what her character on The Office, Kelly Kapoor, would be up to right now, noting that it has been almost ten years since the show concluded.

“I think she would have quit Dunder Mifflin to become an influencer. And then probably be cancelled, almost immediately,” Mindy said.

“Actually most of the characters on that show would be cancelled by now,” Mindy told GMA.

“That show is so inappropriate now. We talk about, the writers who I’m still in touch with now, we always talk about how so much of that show, we probably couldn’t make now.” The Office ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013.

“Tastes have changed and honestly what offends people has changed so much now,” Mindy said. “So I think that actually is one of the reasons the show is popular because people feel like there’s something kind of fearless about it or taboo that it talks about on the show.”
