The outlet reports that new DC Universe bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran have put a stop on future movies with the titular heroine for the moment, and is “considered dead in its current incarnation.”
According to sources, the two, as well as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, broke the news to director Patty Jenkins and essentially told her that the project “did not fit in with the new (but still unfolding) plans.”
As of right now, there have been no decisions made about the next steps.
However, another insider say that the cost is not a factor.
Star Gal Gadot was rumored to earn $20 million payday for Wonder Woman 3 while Patty would have received $12 million.
This news comes just a day after Gal posted an anniversary message to the original movie, which hit theaters this week in 2017.
“On this day, a few years ago, was the first announcement that I was going to play Wonder Woman,” she captioned her post. “Iโve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything Iโm grateful for YOU. The fans. The most amazing, warm, loving fans in the world. Iโm still pinching myself to see if I will wake up. Canโt wait to share her next chapter with you๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ผ๐๐ปโฅ๏ธ”
