“So happy to have Brittney back on U.S. soil,” Roger D. Carstens, the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs tweeted. “Welcome home BG!”

Brittney was arrested in Russia back in February 2022 after police found vape canisters with cannabis oil in her luggage at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. In August, she was sentenced to nine years in prison.

President Joe Biden‘s administration negotiated Brittney‘s release via a trade for international arms dealer Viktor Bout, who was at one time nicknamed “the Merchant of Death.”
