Steve Martin and Martin Short had a lot to compete with when they prepared their Saturday Night Live opening monologue a week after Keke Palmer used hers to announce her pregnancy.

The Only Murders in the Building stars managed to add in a surprise of their own – a cameo from co-star Selena Gomez.

Selena‘s appearance in the monologue was brief but highlighted her chemistry with the comedy legends.

It’s unclear if the pop star and actress will be involved in any other skips moving forward. She’s no stranger to the SNL stage as she hosted the show earlier this year.

During her own opening monologue, she revealed the funny reason that she agreed to host the popular late-night show.
