Chelsea Handler Explains Why She Can't Be Friends with Ex Jo Koy Right Now

Chelsea Handler is opening up about her split from Jo Koy and why she’s unable to be friends with him right now.

The two comedians broke up back in summer 2022 after one year of dating.

During a new interview on Brooke Shields‘ Now What? podcast, Chelsea explained why her friendship with Jo has not yet been repaired.

“I mean, there has to be some accountability, you know what I mean? Like, from him about what happened, because it was just ridiculous,” Chelsea said. “I don’t think we can have a friendship until there’s some accountability and some responsibility taken.”

Chelsea says that her relationship with Jo “devolved” during their time together.

She said, “There was just some behaviors that we couldn’t agree on. And it felt to me like I would have to abandon myself, which maybe I would have been OK to do if I were 20 or 25. But I wasn’t willing to do that.”

“I was like, ‘I’m not going to change the way that I behave in order to make you feel more comfortable. I’m not doing that,’” she added. “I had to walk away from something that I really thought was going to be a forever relationship.”

“Walking away from him was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do,” Chelsea said, adding that therapy did not help.
