Whoopi Goldberg Publicly Pleads for Maggie Smith to Return for 'Sister Act 3'

Whoopi Goldberg knows one actress that the third Sister Act movie will be incomplete without – Maggie Smith.

The long-awaited movie will be the first in the Sister Act franchise since 1993′s Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit and has already been confirmed by Disney+.

Whoopi, 67, is back in action for the film, and she publicly pleaded that Maggie, 88, return as Mother Superior during an appearance on Loose Women. She was involved in both of the first two movies.

“One of the things I want to make sure I do while I’m here is I want to let Maggie Smith know that I’m holding the part of Mother Superior for [her],” Whoopi said. “Because I just can’t do it with anybody but you.”

The actress and co-host of The View continued, revealing how dedicated she was to getting her co-star back. “If you need me to come over here and shoot it and do whatever we have to do, we will do whatever you want us to do. But we don’t want to do it without you, Maggie.”

Whoopi added that she was “liking the script” but was still searching for the director for the movie.

She also revealed some of the other talent she’d like to see sign on for Sister Act 3. One person listed in her dream cast reacted to the news.
